1. Acceptance and eligibility
1.1. By creating an account, installing the app or the extension, or using CallCrumb in any way, you confirm that you have read and accept these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use CallCrumb.
1.2. You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into contracts. CallCrumb is not intended for children or teenagers.
1.3. If you use CallCrumb on behalf of a company or other organization, you represent that you are authorized to accept these Terms on its behalf. In that case, “you” includes that organization, which is jointly responsible with you for complying with these Terms.
2. Definitions
- Service: the Extension, the App, the callcrumb.com website and our account, license, billing and sharing servers, taken together.
- Extension (Translator): the CallCrumb extension for Google Chrome that reads Google Meet captions and translates them.
- App: the CallCrumb application for macOS.
- Account: your CallCrumb registration, used for the trial, the subscription, organizations and invitations.
- Organization: the space that licenses and members belong to. Every Account has a personal organization; team organizations are used on the Teams plan.
- Organization Admin: the person who manages a team organization (members, invitations, licenses and subscription).
- User Content: everything you or the Service creates or stores from your use: captions, processed audio, transcripts, translations, notes, information about people and companies, analyses, comments and files.
- Outputs: any translation, transcript, summary, analysis, suggestion or other text produced by the Service or by an AI Provider.
- AI Provider: the artificial intelligence service you choose and connect with your own account or key, such as Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI or a local model (Ollama).
- Consumer: a person who uses the Service as an end user, as defined by the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code (Law No. 8,078/1990, the “CDC”) or other applicable consumer law.
- Business Customer: a legal entity, or an individual acting in a professional capacity, who purchases the Service for their business, in particular on the Teams plan.
3. What the Service is
3.1. Extension (Translator, free). Reads the captions Google Meet shows in your browser and translates them using your own OpenAI key or a local model (Ollama). Settings, the key and history stay in your browser.
3.2. Mac app (paid, with a trial). Transcribes and organizes meetings and produces analyses with the AI Provider you connect (your Claude account, through the Claude Agent SDK, and/or your OpenAI key). All User Content stays on your Mac, in a local database encrypted field by field (AES-256-GCM), with the master key in a file under your control.
3.3. Our servers. They hold only what is needed for the Account, organizations, licenses, registered Macs and the subscription. They do not receive the content of your meetings. The only exception is sharing within an organization (section 12), where content is end-to-end encrypted between Macs and our servers store only encrypted data they cannot read.
3.4. The Service depends on systems we do not control: macOS, Google Chrome, Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, AI Providers, Stripe, cloud providers and your internet connection. Changes to those systems may affect or interrupt features of the Service.
4. Account and security
4.1. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You can sign in with email and password or with your Google account.
4.2. You are responsible for keeping your password, your Mac and your master key file secure, and for everything that happens in your Account. Tell us right away at [email protected] if you suspect misuse.
4.3. When you sign in to the App, the Mac is registered to your Account using an identifier derived from the hardware (stored only as a hash). You can disconnect your Macs from the App. Each Mac is entitled to a single trial, even with a different Account.
4.4. Your Account is personal and non-transferable. Sharing credentials or a single license between people is not allowed.
5. Plans, trial, payment and renewal
5.1. Plans. Current prices are as follows (prices shown in the App at the time of purchase prevail):
| Plan | For | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Translator | Chrome extension | Free |
| Single | 1 person (personal organization) | US$15 per month or US$150 per year |
| Teams | Team organizations, minimum of 2 licenses | US$12 per license per month or US$120 per license per year |
5.2. Trial. The first time you sign in to the App with your Account, you get a 5-day trial with everything unlocked, free of charge. When the trial ends, without an active license, the App only lets you export your data. Nothing is deleted.
5.3. Payment. Subscriptions are purchased in the App and paid by card through Stripe, which processes payments. We never receive or store your card details. Prices are in US dollars (US$). Currency conversion, foreign transaction taxes and card issuer fees are charged by your bank. Applicable taxes may be added, as shown at checkout.
5.4. Automatic renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period (monthly or yearly), at the same price and number of licenses, unless cancelled or unless we give notice of a price change. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your card.
5.5. Teams licenses. The Organization Admin can add or remove licenses at any time. Increases are charged immediately, prorated for the rest of the period; decreases generate a prorated credit on future invoices. Removing a person from the organization frees their license but does not reduce billing: to do that, reduce the number of licenses.
5.6. Failed payment. If a charge fails, we may keep access during a short grace period while you update your card. If the payment is not settled, the license stops being valid and the App only lets you export your data.
5.7. Price changes. We may change prices. We will give at least 30 days’ notice by email or in the App, and the new price applies only from the first renewal after the notice. If you do not agree, you can cancel before renewal.
6. Cancellation, withdrawal and refunds
6.1. Cancellation. You can cancel at any time under “Manage subscription” in the App (Stripe portal). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid: until then everything keeps working, and you will not be charged again.
6.2. Right of withdrawal. If you are a Consumer, you may withdraw from the purchase within 7 days of the purchase, under article 49 of the CDC, and receive a full refund of the amount paid. Just ask at [email protected], or cancel in the App and let us know within that period. Refunds go back to the same payment method. If the consumer law of your country gives you a longer or broader right, that right applies.
6.3. Other cases. Apart from the right of withdrawal and cases provided by law, amounts for periods that have already started are not refunded, including for partial use, non-use or cancellation in the middle of a period. This does not limit rights that the law grants Consumers, such as in case of a defective service.
6.4. If we discontinue the paid Service entirely, through no fault of yours, we will refund the prorated amount for the paid, unused period.
7. Your data on the Mac, the key and backups
7.1. User Content stays on your Mac, encrypted with a master key kept in a file you own (by default, ~/key). We do not have a copy of that key and cannot recover it or your data. If the key is lost, deleted or corrupted, the encrypted data becomes unrecoverable.
7.2. You are solely responsible for keeping copies of the key in safe places outside the Mac and for making regular backups of your data (the App offers encrypted export and backup).
7.3. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for the loss, corruption or unavailability of data stored on your Mac or in your browser, including due to loss of the key, hardware failure or replacement, system updates or reinstallation, accidental deletion, acts of third parties, malware or lack of backups.
8. AI providers and third-party services
8.1. Translation and analyses use the AI Provider that you connect, with your account or key. That use is governed by the agreements and policies between you and the AI Provider (such as Anthropic and OpenAI), which you must know and comply with.
8.2. Charges from the AI Provider (usage-based, subscription or limits) are yours and are not included in CallCrumb’s price. You are responsible for protecting your keys and accounts, and for any use made with them.
8.3. When you use the Service, excerpts of User Content are sent directly from your device to the AI Provider you chose. The AI Provider’s handling of that data follows its own terms. We recommend reviewing the privacy and training settings of your account.
8.4. The same applies to other services you connect (such as Google Calendar, Jira or a cloud backup destination) and to meeting platforms. CallCrumb is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by Google, Microsoft, Zoom, Anthropic, OpenAI or other third parties, whose trademarks belong to their respective owners.
8.5. We do not control and, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, are not liable for third-party services, including their availability, pricing, changes, failures or how they handle your data.
9. Recording, transcription and consent
9.1. You are solely responsible for informing participants and obtaining any consent or authorization the law requires to read captions, transcribe, translate, record, analyze or store a meeting and information about people. Rules vary by country and state; some places require the consent of all participants.
9.2. Regarding the personal data of participants and of people recorded in the App, you (or your organization) decide what is processed and why. It is up to you to comply with the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (Law No. 13,709/2018, “LGPD”) and any other applicable data protection laws, including rules on sensitive data, professional secrecy, third-party confidential information and your employer’s policies.
9.3. You are also responsible for complying with the terms of the meeting platforms (Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and others) and the rules of the meetings you attend.
9.4. You can turn recording off for any meeting. If in doubt about consent, do not record.
10. AI-generated outputs
10.1. Translations, transcripts and analyses are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, statements attributed to the wrong person, incorrect interpretations or made-up information. Quality depends on audio, captions, language, the AI Provider and other factors outside our control.
10.2. Outputs are not professional advice of any kind, including legal, medical, financial, accounting, investment, human resources or security advice, and do not replace a professional’s judgment.
10.3. You must check Outputs before relying on them, and you are solely responsible for the decisions and actions you take based on them, including assessments of people, messages sent and records created in other systems. Actions that write outside the App (such as creating an issue, an email or an event) require your confirmation.
10.4. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we do not warrant the accuracy, completeness or fitness of Outputs for any purpose.
11. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for illegal activities, including covert interception or recording of communications, or to violate the privacy, confidentiality, copyright or other rights of others;
- use the Service for harassment, discrimination, abusive surveillance of people or unlawful automated decisions;
- circumvent, disable or bypass the license, the trial, the one-trial-per-Mac limit, license token verification or any security measure;
- copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer or create derivative works of the Service, except to the extent the law expressly allows it notwithstanding this prohibition;
- resell, sublicense, rent or offer the Service to third parties as a service, or share a license between people;
- access or attempt to access data, accounts or systems without authorization, test vulnerabilities without our written permission, or overload, scrape or automate our APIs beyond normal use of the App;
- upload malware or content that harms the Service, other users or third parties;
- use the Service to build a competing product.
Found a security issue? Write to [email protected] before disclosing it.
12. Sharing within an organization
12.1. In team organizations, you can share meetings, people, companies and analyses with other members. Content is encrypted on your Mac and can only be read by the Macs of people with access. Our servers store only the encrypted data, wrapped keys and metadata (such as item type, owner, people with access, roles, versions and dates).
12.2. You are responsible for what you share and with whom, and you must have the right to share it. Recipients can read, copy or export what they received; removing access later does not undo what has already been seen.
12.3. The Organization Admin can set sharing rules, transfer or delete shared items and see metadata and the audit log (never the content). People who leave the organization lose access to items shared with it.
12.4. Because we do not hold the keys, we cannot recover shared content if no Mac with access can open it.
13. Intellectual property and license
13.1. The Service, software, trademarks, design and documentation belong to CallCrumb or its licensors and are protected by law. Nothing in these Terms transfers those rights to you.
13.2. As long as you comply with these Terms (and, for the App, while you have an active trial or license), we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable and revocable license to install and use the Service for the purposes described here. Parts of the software may be open source and are governed by their own licenses.
13.3. Your User Content is yours. We claim no rights to it and, except for the encrypted sharing in section 12, we do not receive it.
13.4. If you send us suggestions or feedback about the Service, we may use them freely, without any obligation to pay or credit you.
14. Updates, beta features and changes to the Service
14.1. We may update, change, add or remove features of the Service at any time, including to keep up with changes by third parties, in the law or in security. Some updates may be required to keep using the Service.
14.2. Features labeled beta, preview or experimental are provided as is, may have defects, may change or be removed without notice and are not part of the purchased plan.
14.3. If a change materially reduces an essential feature of the paid plan, we will give reasonable advance notice and you may cancel; if you are a Consumer, you may request a prorated refund of the paid, unused period.
15. Suspension and termination
15.1. You can stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time. To delete your Account, write to [email protected].
15.2. We may suspend or terminate your Account, block a Mac or limit access to the Service, with notice when possible, if: (a) you breach these Terms; (b) payment is not made; (c) there is reasonable suspicion of fraud, abuse or license circumvention; (d) it is necessary to protect the Service, other users or third parties; or (e) the law or an authority requires it. For serious breaches, suspension may be immediate.
15.3. With the Account suspended, terminated or unlicensed, the App still lets you export the data on your Mac. Account data on our servers is handled as described in the Privacy Policy.
15.4. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 7, 9, 10, 13, 16, 17, 18, 22 and 23) remain in effect.
16. Disclaimer of warranties
16.1. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, uninterrupted or error-free operation, compatibility with third-party platforms or that defects will be corrected.
16.2. We do not warrant that the Service will work with every meeting, language, accent, audio setup or version of macOS, Chrome or meeting platforms.
16.3. This section does not exclude warranties imposed by law that cannot be waived, including those of the CDC and other consumer laws for Consumers.
17. Limitation of liability
17.1. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CallCrumb, its partners, officers, employees and suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, business, opportunities, goodwill or data, or the cost of substitute services, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
17.2. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for damages arising from: (a) Outputs or decisions made based on them; (b) lack of consent from participants or your non-compliance with laws and third-party terms; (c) loss of the master key or lack of backups; (d) acts, failures or changes of AI Providers, meeting platforms and other third parties; (e) use of your keys and accounts, including charges by third parties; (f) unauthorized access to your Mac, browser or credentials not caused by us; (g) acts of God or force majeure.
17.3. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CallCrumb’s total liability for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you actually paid us for the Service in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or, if you paid nothing (for example, on the free Translator or during the trial), to US$50.
17.4. The limitations in this section do not apply to damages caused by our willful misconduct or gross negligence, or where the law prohibits the limitation. For Consumers, they apply only to the extent allowed by the CDC and other applicable consumer law (section 20).
18. Indemnification
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend and indemnify CallCrumb, its partners, officers, employees and suppliers against losses, damages, fines, costs and reasonable attorneys’ fees arising from third-party claims (including meeting participants, employers, authorities and platforms) relating to: (a) User Content and how you obtained, used or shared it; (b) lack of consent or legal basis to record, transcribe or process third parties’ data; (c) your breach of these Terms, the law or third-party rights; (d) the use of your AI Provider and other service accounts and keys. We will notify you of the claim and may conduct the defense, with your cooperation.
19. Business customers (Teams)
19.1. By purchasing the Teams plan, you represent that you are purchasing for use in your business, as a Business Customer. The relationship between CallCrumb and a Business Customer is a civil and commercial one between equal parties, under articles 421 and 421-A of the Brazilian Civil Code, and every clause of these Terms (including sections 16, 17 and 18) applies to it in full.
19.2. The Business Customer is responsible for: the members it invites and their acts; managing licenses, roles and sharing rules; informing its members of these Terms and of its own policies; and complying with the LGPD and other data protection laws as the controller of personal data its members process with the Service.
19.3. For the sharing described in section 12, we store the encrypted data on behalf of, and according to the instructions of, the Business Customer and its members.
19.4. For Business Customers, the venue is the one set out in section 22.3, waiving any other, however privileged.
19.5. If the law considers a Business Customer a consumer in a specific situation, compensation may be limited in justifiable situations, under article 51, item I, of the CDC, and the limitations in section 17 will apply to that extent.
20. Consumer rights
20.1. Nothing in these Terms excludes, limits or waives rights that the law grants Consumers and that cannot be set aside by contract, including those in the CDC, such as the 7-day right of withdrawal for online purchases (article 49), compensation for damages caused by defects in the service, and the nullity of clauses that prevent, exempt or reduce the supplier’s liability (article 51).
20.2. In consumer relationships, the disclaimer, limitation of liability and indemnification clauses (sections 16 to 18) apply only to the extent compatible with the CDC and other applicable consumer law; anything incompatible does not apply, and the rest of these Terms remains valid.
20.3. Consumers may bring claims in the courts of their place of residence, and may also use consumer protection bodies such as Procon and consumidor.gov.br.
20.4. If you live outside Brazil, you also have the rights that the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country grant you.
21. Changes to these Terms
21.1. We may change these Terms. We will give at least 15 days’ notice of material changes by email or in the App, and the date at the top of this page will be updated. Changes required by law or for security reasons may take effect sooner.
21.2. If you do not agree with the new version, you can cancel your subscription and stop using the Service before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new version. For Consumers, unfavorable changes only apply to an already paid period from the next renewal.
22. Governing law, dispute resolution and venue
22.1. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, without prejudice to mandatory consumer and data protection rules of your country of residence.
22.2. Before going to court, contact us at [email protected]; we will try to resolve the matter amicably within 30 days. This does not prevent Consumers from going directly to consumer protection bodies or to court.
22.3. The courts of the judicial district of [CIDADE/UF], Brazil, are chosen to resolve any dispute about these Terms, except for Consumers, who may bring claims in the courts of their place of residence, where they must also be sued.
23. General provisions
23.1. Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held void, invalid or unenforceable, in whole or in part, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted, or replaced by the valid provision closest to its intent, and the remaining provisions will remain in effect.
23.2. No waiver. Failing to enforce an obligation is not a waiver of it and does not change these Terms.
23.3. Assignment. You may not assign your rights and obligations without our written consent. We may assign this contract in a corporate reorganization, merger, acquisition or sale of assets, with your rights preserved.
23.4. Entire agreement. These Terms, the Privacy Policy and the conditions shown at purchase are the entire agreement between the parties about the Service.
23.5. Notices. You agree to receive communications about the Service electronically (your registered email and in-App notices), which have the same value as written communications.
23.6. Language. These Terms are also published in Portuguese. In case of any conflict, the Portuguese version prevails, to the extent permitted by the law of your country of residence.
23.7. Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond its reasonable control, such as failures of providers, power or internet, attacks, disasters or acts of authorities.
